Common Prayer.

http://commonprayer.net/

I really love this website.  It provides short prayers and structure for devotions.  I read the first two lines yesterday morning while I was at work, and that gave me enough to focus on for a good 5-10 minutes.  Today in Sunday School we talked about how it's hard to find time for God when you feel like you can barely keep your head above water in a sea of tests, papers, lab reports, and about a million other things that college tends to throw at you.  I gave up for 2 years, and looking back, I could have really used the support, foundation, and perspective that my faith provides for me during that time.  I also really missed a lot of good fellowship opportunities because I was too overwhelmed and felt that I couldn't take the time.  Really, I could have made the time, but I chose to let other things take up my time and called it "being too busy."

Try doing something for 30 seconds one day.  Or 2 minutes.  Or whatever.  Pray while you walk to class.  Dance around and praise God by thanking Him for all the blessings in your life while you shampoo your hair in the morning.  It's all about getting creative.  The important thing is to do it, and to not lose focus.

If you ever need someone to talk to, or you're feeling overwhelmed, talk to someone.  I'm around, and I'm sure you have other people that would be happy to listen to you.  Make God a priority in life, and your perspective will change in ways that you never thought possible-good ways.

  1. Great site! Thanks for recommending it! And you're right, the important thing about prayer is "just do it."
